The Tide

Backstory

Two years ago, after a botched surgery, I descended into a downward spiral of severe chronic pain, depression, and other mental health struggles. This song was written at one of the lowest points in my life and it was the first song I wrote for the album.”

Lyrics

All of these doctors sold me their potions and sent me away
All of these preachers read me their verses and told me to pray
But I'm still alone here at midnight buckled in pain

Yelling loud in the night at the moon full and high
As I stumble and crash on the shore
Howling loud in the night as the moon pulls the tide
Inch by inch til it's up to my throat
And It won't let me go

Then all of these doctors threw up their hands but still made me pay
And all the healers became disbelievers and went on their way
But I found my way to dark places to make my escape

Yelling loud in the night at the moon full and high
As the waves come and crash on the shore
Howling loud in the night as the moon pulls the tide
Inch by inch til it's up to my throat
It won't let me go

This morning I woke up the first thing I saw was you next to me
It's hard to admit but that was the first time I felt any light in weeks

The thin veil between everything
Feels like the end
The end and beginning
The thin veil between everything
Feels like the end
The end and beginning
The thin veil between everything
Feels like the end
The end and beginning
The thin veil between everything
Feels like the end
The end and beginning
